If your wedding gown has a train, you will want to have a seamtress create a bustle for you so that you can avoid tripping over your bridal gown during your reception, for example when you are dancing. Another reason to bustle your bridal gown is to also avoid having a guest step on your train potentially causing you to trip and fall or ripping your wedding gown.
The two most common ways to bustle your wedding gown are known as the standard bustle, I think some people refer to it as the "English" bustle. The other one is known as the French bustle.
What's the difference?

A standard bustle is attached to the top of of your bridal gown. Most often, it is hooked to a button on the back of the skirt. I think the standard bustle works well if your wedding gown has a lot of intricate details on the train.

A French bustle is attached under your wedding gown. This is probably the most popular among brides because you can create one or more layers.

Here is a sample of a multi-layered French bustle. I think this will work well if your train is plain or does not have a lot of details to it. This is a great way to add detail or interest to your wedding gown.
